It can be a different story however in external situations where environmental conditions (e.g. salt spray, humidity or pollution) can adversely affect the durability of the lacquer. The only solution has been to remove the lacquer and polish the brass - a time consuming laborious task which can be difficult to do with the hardware still on the door. Everbrite is a new durable finish suitable for the harshest of environments. A process known as "Physical Vapour Deposition" achieves this by depositing molecules of hard-wearing metals on the brass surface. This microscopic layer protects the brass finish from discolouration even when exposed to coastal areas, sunlight, pollution etc. The manufacturers are so confident of this process they offer a 25 year warranty on the finish!!
